How did I get here?

Hey Everyone. Thanks for visiting my website, I’m Headinthesky Coaching, AKA. Louise. I’ve been riding my bike since 2013, and I still remember my first ride at Glentress. My legs were burning and my lungs on fire pedalling up the hill. When we finally got to the top, I had that nervous excitement, not really knowing what to expect. Little did I know, that ride would change everything, and from that moment on I was bike and fitness obsessed. At the time I was dealing with depression and pretty bad social anxiety, but after getting into biking and being active, I experienced such a boost to my mental health, confidence and self esteem. So much so, I decided I wanted to help other people to boost their moods too, so in 2016, half way through my Psychology degree, I got my Personal Training qualification and started working in gyms around Glasgow.

Biking has taken me all over Scotland, from trail centres, to hunting down the finest enduro mud, and lets be honest, nothing quite beats the buzz of finishing a race, especially one that has you questioning your life choices half way through! In the end, it all has that magical feeling, whether simply spending time in nature, up a Munro, looking down on the world, or enjoying the smell of the forest on a damp day, to chasing your friends down a crazy trail. What’s life without bikes, without movement?

I love fitness, I love riding my bike and I especially love working with people, so this next step, feels 100% like the right one. Being able to share my passion, experiences and everything I’ve learned over the years is such an exciting prospect. Although at times, it’s not been an easy journey, it feels like everything has led me to where I am now, and has equipped me with the knowledge and experience to help.

I have a degree in psychology, and as you might have guessed, I am fascinated with human behaviour and why we do what we do. I know from experience, being able to master your mind will have a direct effect on your performance, and that’s exactly why I bring elements of this into my coaching. Our mind is a tool that can help or hinder us, so lets make it work for us.

With my own personal experience of fitness, and training, not just for racing, but to enhance my enjoyment on the bike, and a healthy body helps build a healthy mind. Our bodies are amazing, whatever we put them through, they adapt, and our bodies are capable of so much more than we sometimes give them credit for. In the end, it’s all about mastering our mindset. Whether the end result is riding with more focus, or sticking to our training goals.

When you add these elements to mountain bike coaching, in my book, you have a winning combination!

Right, enough chatting, lets get moving!
